Save your Detail map first by clicking the Save button on the standard toolbar. So if you think your site is a good distance away and it will be cheaper to choose a new Detail map, continue on to step 14 below.ġ4. Although you have a certain amount of free roaming, you will soon be charged if you move too far away from the site. However, you do not need to search for your site on your Detail layer map. If you now find that you have made a mistake, you could use your free roaming allowance to search for the site you do want. For more information on expenditure details go to Enter Expenditure Details. Enter a Project and Reference for your map view and this will be entered into your accounting files. The Northing (Y) map coordinate is 8364.The Locate by dialog box also contains an Open saved maps tab to allow you to search through your previously saved maps.The Easting (X) map coordinate is 4227.The location lies within NS square on the national grid (indicated in the diagram above).In this example, our location is shown on an OS Landranger map.NGR = (Letter pair) + (Easting) + (Northing).On your map measure the Northing coordinate.The distance from the bottom edge of the square on the map. ![]() The distance from the left-hand edge of the square on the map. The British National Grid System divides the United Kingdom into a grid of 100km squares and each square has a pair of identifying letters. By clicking on the map a 10 character National Grid Reference will be displayed for your use. By entering your postcode a map of your area will displayed.
